Like many other Saskatchewan musicians, Shannon’s earliest professional performing experiences came under the mentorship of Bob Moyer and Pat Steele. Shannon would go on to play with a variety of performing ensembles, including Sharon, Lois, and Bram, the Las Vegas Symphony Orchestra, Calgary’s Prime Time Big Band and the Fox Band. Shannon is most recently, a member of the Calgary Women’s Jazz Orchestra, and is a regular clinician and coach for their annual “Girls in Jazz”, a workshop weekend designed to support and promote girls and women of all ages in developing skill as jazz musicians. Shannon has a bachelor’s degree in flute performance from the University of Regina, a master’s degree in woodwind performance from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and a teaching degree from the University of Calgary. Shannon currently lives in Prince Albert, where she teaches band, jazz band and choir at École St. Mary High School.
