Jihye Im is a South Korean-born jazz pianist, composer, and arranger now based in Regina. A recent graduate of McGill University’s Master of Music in Jazz Performance program, she has become an emerging voice in Canadian jazz through her work as both a performer and writer for small and large ensembles. Jihye’s awards include the Graduate Excellence Award, the Jan Jarczyk Scholarship, and the J.L. Big Band Scholarship. Her writing for Strayhorn: The Quiet Revolutionary brings a fresh perspective to the music of Billy Strayhorn while remaining grounded in the jazz tradition.
