Saskatoon Brass Band

(Saskatoon)
Featured Ensemble

The Saskatoon Brass Band is a twenty-five member ensemble founded in 1981 by Brian Fox and Jim Horne, who set out to bring the sound of the British brass band tradition to Saskatchewan players and audiences.

The band follows the standard British instrumentation of cornets, flugelhorn, alto horns, baritones, euphoniums, trombones, basses and percussion, and draws its membership from working musicians, educators and students across the city. Its programmes run to the demanding end of the repertoire, and its concerts regularly feature soloists and smaller ensembles drawn from within the band.

A companion group, the Bridge City Brass Band, was formed in 2008 for players looking for a lighter playing commitment.
