About This Concert

From the heart of Saskatoon to the soul of Edmonton, two premier Western Canadian jazz orchestras unite for Northern Resonance — an electrifying celebration of big band music on Saturday, March 14. The Saskatoon Jazz Orchestra welcomes Edmonton’s River City Big Band to the Broadway Theatre for a powerful evening featuring special guest tenor saxophonist Mark DeJong.

The concert will showcase full sets from each orchestra, highlighting original music and bold arrangements by Canadian composers from Alberta and Saskatchewan, alongside selections from the great big band tradition. The evening culminates in special joint performances that bring both ensembles together on stage in a spirited display of collaboration, community, and Western Canadian artistry.
