Rhythm is where this concert starts. Queen Cora Coleman has spent a career putting it at the centre of the room, and in March she brings that to the Broadway stage with the Saskatoon Jazz Orchestra (SJO).
Coleman is the internationally acclaimed drummer, educator, producer and bandleader whose playing has taken her to stages around the world alongside artists including Prince and Beyonce. She is known for her groove and her presence behind the kit, and for an artistic voice that crosses genres while staying rooted in the spirit of jazz.
The programme will draw on music associated with her career and on the works that shaped her as a player, arranged here for large jazz ensemble.
